Can the Hornets still make in the West?

March 13th, 2011

The New Orleans Hornets are going to make the playoffs. They are having a nice bounce back season under new head coach Monty Williams. Their chances of pulling off a victory in the first round of the NBA playoffs are indeed fairly unlikely.
Can the Hornets still make in the West?
The Los Angeles Lakers are starting to round into postseason form and apparently Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest are on somewhat of a renewed mission. The Hornets added a few good components with the likes of Emeka Okafor. Okafor needs to stay healthy if the Hornets want to contend with a capable big man like Andrew Bynum for example. The acquisition of Carl Landry is certainly going to help in this department as well. Carl Landry may be undersized, but he plays with a lot of heart and fervor. The idea of resigning Landry is what could lead them to a long set of playoff runs.

Chris Paul and David West certainly have to remain healthy for the Hornets to feel like they have a chance in the playoffs. Jarrett Jack definitely have some scoring ability, but can he lead the team as a point guard? Many NBA observers have their doubts. Trevor Ariza and Willie Green for example can score as well, but they will certainly need David West if they hope to be competitive in the playoffs. If Chris Paul were to be injured for the rest of the season, the Hornets may

Kobe still on fire…

January 26th, 2011

Kobe Bryant is brilliant.
I think someone should finally made a graffiti saying this in the Los Angeles metro. Just like Eric Clapton got his back in the sixties for his amazing guitar and blues skills.
Kobe is really brilliant. And the Jazz have really felt that deeply on their skin last night when he blew them an astonishing victory of 120-91!
He scored his season best record of 21 plus brought his number of total assists to 30 with 12 last night! Read the rest of this entry »

Cavs looking to rebound vs the T’Wolves

December 4th, 2010

It appears not likely that Ramon Sessions & Ryan Hollins’ come back to The T’Wolves will have quite the effect that Cleveland witnessed within their most recent game.

Cleveland are trying to put a humiliating nationally televised defeat behind them Saturday versus Minnesota, who have lost 6 consecutive following losing a big 4th quarter lead versus the League’s finest club.

The Cavs (7 – 11) had a crazed fan base on their side as LeBron made his much awaited come back to Ohio on Thursday evening, however the 2 time Most Valuable Player’s ex- club was no contest for the Heat. Cleveland dropped behind by as much as thirty-eight points, the same as James’ total for the evening, during a 118 – 90 loss that served as a reminder of what they lost over the off season.

1st year Coach Byron Scott appeared amazingly unaffected, although 8 players in Cleveland’s ten man rotation did play in the 2010 playoffs. The only 2 who did not are Sessions & Hollins, who The Cavs signed during an off-season trade from the Timberwolves (4 – 15) after the two of them spent one season each with The T’Wolves .

The Cavs player with the most playoff experience appeared much more troubled than Scott by his squad’s 5th straight double digit defeat.

The Cavs has picked up 9 consecutive versus Minnesota, however they will not have LeBron’s 30 .1 999 point average from that stretch to turn to anymore.

Mo Williams has put in 20 .2 points during his previous 6 matchups against The T’Wolves, while Jamison put in 24 .3 during his previous 4 games versus Minnesota while with the Wizards.

The T’Wolves appeared capable of defeating anyone following 3 quarters in San Antonio on Friday evening, when they built a fifteen point lead on the League best Spurs.

Nothing went right for the Timberwolves during the fourth, Read the rest of this entry »

The Jazz continue their East Coast Trip

November 12th, 2010

In this game, the Utah Jazz and the Atlanta Hawks will do battle. Both of these teams are very evenly matched. If going by momentum means anything, then the Jazz just might have the upper hand. They have had some miraculous come-backs recently, but don’t count out those Hawks! The Hawks have a decided advantage in the paint, making almost 50% of their field goals. They are a good free throw shooting team as well at 80%.

Meanwhile, the Jazz do put up similar numbers, though not nearly as great of a field goal percentage, their advantage comes with the three point shots. They make them at a 35% clip, compared to the Hawks at 31%. Both teams have very similar rebounding stats, so this game could come down to which team is able to make the other team play the way they want them to play.

If the Jazz are able to make the Hawks turn this into a fast-paced shooting match, it will be a long day for the Hawks, who like to slow it down and turn it into a slug fest inside the paint. Meanwhile, if the Hawks can defend the Jazz’s three point shooting and get them into foul trouble inside, the Jazz could be the ones in trouble.

Without question, the Jazz have the better offense, but the Hawks have the better defense. The Hawks have forced opponents to just 9 rebounds per game while on offense. The Hawks play physical defense and get the other team into foul trouble, and that’s when that 80% free throw percentage can do some serious damage. The Hawks have the better bench, as well, garnering 32 points per Read the rest of this entry »
